How to use

  1. Pick the country or sizing system you already know — e.g. "US" if the garment was bought in US sizing.
  2. Select your size and the equivalents in every other system appear at once.
  3. Check the full chart below too — knowing the neighboring sizes helps when you're between sizes.

Frequently asked questions

Why do sizes differ so much between countries?+

Each country grades sizes differently: Korea and Japan label actual measurements (mm/cm), the US and UK use inches and their own grades, and Europe uses separate number systems. They're different names for the same body, so a chart can line them up.

What is an EU 50 jacket in US sizing?+

EU sizes run about 10 higher than the US/UK chest measurement in inches, so EU 50 ≈ US 40 chest ≈ size L.

What does 15½ on a dress shirt mean?+

Dress shirts are sized by neck circumference in inches. 15½ in ≈ 39 cm neck, roughly a size M. It's a separate system from casual chest sizing.

What if a brand's sizing doesn't match the chart?+

This chart follows the standard international correspondence, but cuts vary by brand — expect up to one size of drift. The safest check is the brand's own size chart with actual measurements in centimeters.

Unit guide

How each country grades men's sizes

The US and UK size tops by chest circumference in inches (36·38·40…). Europe uses even grades 44–54 — roughly the chest in inches plus 10. Japan uses S·M·L·LL·3L, and Korea labels the chest in centimeters (90·95·100).

So chest 38 in = EU 48 = JP M = KR 95 all describe the same body. When you meet an EU 48/50 suit online, subtract 10 to get the familiar inch size.

Checking with real measurements

Measure your chest just under the armpits at the widest point, tape level. 91–95 cm is an M (KR 95), 96–100 cm an L (KR 100). For jackets also check shoulder width; for shirts, neck and sleeve length drive the fit.

American brands tend to cut roomier and Japanese/Korean brands slimmer for the same letter. Trust the listed garment measurements over the size label.
