Each country grades sizes differently: Korea and Japan label actual measurements (mm/cm), the US and UK use inches and their own grades, and Europe uses separate number systems. They're different names for the same body, so a chart can line them up.

A US 6 is roughly an EU (German) 38, UK 10, French 40, Italian 44 — international size M.
Are US and UK numbers the same?+
No — UK sizes run about 4 higher than US for the same body. A US 8 is a UK 12.

How each country grades women's sizes
The US uses even numbers (0·2·4…), the UK runs about 4 higher, Germany uses 32·34…, France adds 2 to the German number, and Italy adds 4 to the French one. Japan uses odd numbers (5·7·9), and Korea pairs traditional labels (44·55·66) with chest-based ones (85·90·95).
So one body can be US 4 = UK 8 = DE 36 = FR 38 = IT 42 = JP 9 = KR 55 — the same size wearing seven different names. That's why cross-border shopping gets confusing fast.
Checking with real measurements
Measure your bust at the fullest point and your waist at the narrowest, keeping the tape level. Around 85 cm bust is roughly S, 90 cm is M. For dresses and outerwear, also check the shoulder width (seam to seam).
Brand-to-brand drift is bigger for bottoms and dresses than tops. The most reliable trick: lay a well-fitting garment flat, measure it, and compare against the product's listed measurements.
