Temperature Converter
Convert between Celsius (°C), Fahrenheit (°F) and Kelvin (K).
1 °C =
33.8 °F
How to use
- Type the value to convert — decimals are fine.
- Pick the current unit on the left and the target unit on the right. The middle button swaps direction.
- The result updates as you type. Check the conversion table and formula below, too.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate are the results?+
Calculations use the internationally standardized (SI) definitions; only the display is rounded to about six significant digits. That's plenty for everyday, school and work use.
What's the Celsius to Fahrenheit formula?+
°F = °C × 9/5 + 32, and back: °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9. For example, 25 °C is 25 × 1.8 + 32 = 77 °F.
Is 100 °F hot?+
100 °F = 37.8 °C — heat-wave territory. Read US forecasts roughly as: 70s °F = pleasant 20s °C, 90s °F = hot 30s °C.
Does it need a fast connection?+
No. The math runs instantly inside your browser with no server round-trip — it even works offline once the page is open.
Is it really free?+
Yes. No sign-up, no install, no usage limits. The site is ad-supported.
Unit guide
Why temperature needs a formula
Length and weight units share a zero and differ only by scale, but Celsius and Fahrenheit place zero differently (water freezes at 0 °C = 32 °F) — hence the added +32 step. Kelvin uses Celsius-sized degrees but starts at absolute zero (−273.15 °C), which is why science prefers it.
Handy anchors: body temperature 36.5 °C ≈ 97.7 °F, room temperature 20 °C = 68 °F, oven preheat 350 °F ≈ 180 °C (the classic recipe number).
How this converter calculates
Input is converted to Celsius, then recalculated into the target scale using the exact formulas; rounding happens only at display time.
